Phoenix Nest: A Homestay Immersed in Hand-Made Copper

Creating an Offline Experience Hall for Pure Hand-Made Copper Household Goods

The Phoenix Nest homestay, designed by Xia Song, is a unique and immersive experience that combines the beauty of hand-made copper with the comfort of a modern homestay. Inspired by the owner's passion for copper craftsmanship, this homestay showcases the artistry and elegance of copper in a stunning setting.

The concept for Phoenix Nest was born from the owner's background in hotel management and her love for hand-made copper products. After studying in Switzerland, she returned home and opened a store featuring pure hand-made copper household items. Her dream was to create a homestay that not only showcased her products but also provided an immersive experience for guests.

Located in the picturesque tourist resort town of Fuxian Lake, Phoenix Nest serves as an offline experience hall for pure hand-made copper household goods. The design concept revolves around a color palette of black, white, and gray, with accents of wood and plant green. This minimalist approach allows the copper products to take center stage, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.

The open kitchen, designed as the heart of the homestay, welcomes guests from all over the world. The concrete countertop is adorned with solid wood plates, while colored glass bowls and ceramic pots add a touch of vibrancy. Matte black steel and red-brown copper elements punctuate the black walls, creating a striking contrast. The kitchen follows an open-plan layout, featuring a long table that encourages communal dining.

With a total area of 620 square meters, Phoenix Nest offers six guest rooms, each designed with a modern perspective. These rooms serve as functional and artistic spaces, providing guests with a unique and memorable experience. To ensure privacy and comfort, white gauze curtains are installed in each room, allowing sunlight to filter through while maintaining a sense of tranquility.

The design of the homestay reflects the original intention of creating an offline experience hall for hand-made copper household goods. The combination of black, white, and gray tones, along with the use of natural materials, creates a soothing and inviting ambiance. The open layout of the kitchen and restaurant fosters a sense of community, while the guest rooms offer a personalized and artistic retreat.

The Phoenix Nest project, which started in May 2018 and was completed in December 2019, is a testament to Xia Song's creativity and dedication. This unique homestay has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. The award acknowledges the outstanding design and resourcefulness of Phoenix Nest, which combines art, science, and technology to enhance the quality of life for its guests.
